Cheesy Potato and Bacon Foil Packs

Cheesy Potato and Bacon Foil Packs are a quick, flavorful, and customizable campfire meal. Perfect for camping, grilling, or oven cooking.

Equipment

  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil
  • Campfire Grate or Grill Rack
  • Tongs or Heat-Resistant Gloves
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing bowl
  • (Optional) Parchment Paper

Ingredients
  

For 4 servings:

  • 4 Medium Potatoes Russet or Yukon Gold, diced into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheese Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or your choice
  • 6 Strips Cooked Bacon crumbled
  • 2 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter melted
  • 2 Cloves Garlic minced
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Optional: Green onions parsley, or sour cream for garnish

Instructions
 

Prep Ingredients at Home:

  • Cook bacon until crispy, then crumble and store.
  • Melt butter and mix with minced garlic.
  • Dice potatoes and store in water to prevent browning.

Assemble Foil Packs at the Campsite:

  • Tear large sheets of aluminum foil. Line with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  • Divide potatoes among the foil sheets. Add bacon, garlic butter, and cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Fold and seal the foil tightly.

Cook the Foil Packs:

  • Campfire: Cook on embers or a grate for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Grill: Cook over medium heat for 20–25 minutes, flipping once.
  • Oven: Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes on a baking sheet.
