  • Camping Stove or Campfire Setup

  • Mixing Bowl and Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ladle or Scoop
  • Cooking Oil or Butter
  • Cooler or Insulated Bag

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 ¼ cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 large egg or powdered egg alternative

Instructions

At Home Preparation:

  • Mix all dry ingredients in an airtight container.
  • Measure milk and melted butter into sealable jars.
  • Crack the egg into a small container or use powdered eggs.

At the Campsite:

  • Combine dry and wet ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir gently until just combined, leaving small lumps for fluffiness.
  • Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes to activate the baking powder.

Cooking Pancakes on a Griddle:

  • Prepare the heat: Place the griddle over a campfire or camping stove. Ensure even heat.
  • Grease the griddle with butter or oil.
  • Pour batter onto the griddle, forming 4-5 inch circles. Space out to avoid overlap.
  • Cook pancakes for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and edges appear firm.
  • Flip the pancakes using a spatula and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Wrap cooked pancakes in foil to keep them warm while preparing additional batches.
